Greater Los Angeles Community: Organizations, Leaders, Public Officials Along with Congresswoman Maxine Waters discussing, H.R.1

With the threats of a Government Shut Down looming, the Greater Los Angeles Community came together on Saturday, April 9, 2011, to speak out against the affects a possible Government Shut Down would have on the entire nation.
Community Organization Leaders, Labor Union Leaders, Senior Citizen's, Homeless Prevention Organization's, Head Start, WLCAC, Housing Developments, and children stood in solidarity with Congress Woman Maxine Waters and other elected officials to take a stand against Tea Party members taking a direct shot at the Poor. The community came out to stand together in unity against giving tax breaks to the rich and taxing the poor.
It is unclear what the detail(s) of H.R.1 entail(s); we anticipate the information to be released soon. Residents, community members, and Public Officials are devastated at the drastic impact extreme cuts H.R.1 proposes. During a time when the economy is already in a recession, the nation could not take another disruptive blow to the American Economy. Students our outraged at the possible Pell Grant cuts and other low-income qualifying programs are in jeopardy of suffering huge cuts; some programs may not be able to withstand these drastic cuts and will cease to operate.
It is almost catastrophic imagining what the details consists of;  it is even more disturbing how government seems to think the American people are docile, distracted, or unconcerned with politics. Millions of American Citizens would be frustrated if the talks and rumors of an actual Government Shut Down were to occur.
It is so disappointing knowing that powers that be within politics are unable to complete a budget by a deadline. Furthermore, there are a series of CR's (continual resolutions) and this is simply ridiculous. The American people have a voice and were refreshed coming together as a community standing together and alongside Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Bernard Parks, Tim Watkins, and other dignitaries, public officials, community leaders, and community members.
As details remain reluctantly revealed, the community continues to come together and updates will be released immediately and the community will be abreast on the latest.  For more information on update community related events visit:  http://scorpioshotlist.blogspot.com/

Literary Analysis of Baxter’s Procrustes by Keisha Robinson

In response to the literary reading of Charles W. Chesnutt’s, Baxter Procrustes , I really enjoyed the reading and I loved the writing style! This reading adventure was very fun, with an exception for minor difficulty understanding the usage of some punctuation, wording, and language. This story is well written and  clearly expressive of philosophical, logical, and illogical thoughts and ideas. Baxter’s Procrustes serves as a literary inspiration for authors, writers, publishers, and book collectors. This is an amazing story of failure, hope and success as best described with a shortcoming by omitting women. Solely due to the period of time in which this story was written is the only excusable reason that women were not allowed. That is no longer an issue or a concern today because of people like Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass and efforts put forward towards Women's Liberation and the Women's Rights Movement.             Although I did find this a story of fate, Baxter w

Politics Motivate Artistic Quality by Keisha Robinson

Politics Motivate Artistic Quality                                                     By: Keisha Robinson Politics inadvertently impact an artists’ creative work. Based on conditions: socioeconomic, inequality, injustice, racism, discrimination, oppression, and genocide; I believe an artist is compelled and often times obligated to describe these conditions through various art forms. I find it necessary for an artist to express issues related to politics in a creative format, and quite often political issues do motivate such works.   As an artist, free expression is an imperative aspect to creativity: The freedom to express different viewpoints and diverse perspectives without scrutiny surrounding artistic style, arrangement, and composition for me, helps conveys a clear message. In my opinion, there is no set standard for artistic creativity. I would not have the creative freedom of expression that exists today, had it not been for the versatile pioneer’s at the forefront. I am hono

The Power of Writing by Keisha Robinson

The Power of Writing Writing is an essential function in life. I am sure that most people don’t realize the importance of writing, and how it has impacted human life. Books were written of various diverse denominations to provide basic instructions while on earth. On July 4, 1776 when this nation was founded, there needed to be some type of document solidifying the separation of the United States from the British Empire which caused for the creation of the United States Declaration of Independence. Extremely significant and powerful, writing can be used as a tool to establish any point of view. The importance, the purpose, and the point of views through the writing were well demonstrated by Thomas Jefferson. The Declaration of Independence is an important document and in its own written words, started the path to abolish Slavery, which didn’t happen until much later. History confirms the significance of the power that lies within written words. Another important written document that
